Fitbit Updates

We are getting a ton of super useful data from Fitbit for your participants. We have updated our sleep data to include stages of sleep like (deep, light, rem, wake) instead of the classic like (asleep, restless, awake). We also decided to backfill heart rate intraday data (for those of you who started using Fitbit before we tracked this data).

We added the following data fields to the Fitbit Pedometer device:

  • goal_steps (migration to rename fitbit_goal to goal_steps)

  • goal_calories_out

  • goal_floors

  • goal_distance

  • calories_out

  • calories_bmr

  • marginal_calories

  • activity_calories

  • elevation

  • floors

  • activity_name

  • log_type

  • duration (seconds)

  • active_duration

  • calories

  • steps

  • start_time (store this as the as_of for the form submission)

  • last_modified

  • manual_step_value (boolean)

  • manual_distance_value (boolean)

  • manual_calorie_value (boolean)

  • average_heart_rate

  • heart_rate_minutes_out_of_range

  • heart_rate_minutes_fat_burn

  • heart_rate_minutes_cardio

  • heart_rate_minutes_cardio

  • Confirm if below are consistent across activities

Withings Updates

We have added more functionality to our Withings device integration, heart rate monitoring. You can collect Withings intraday data for steps, heart rate and sleep.

Re-Enroll in a W2H Intervention

Re-enrollment in a Way to Health intervention is now available in PennChart. Heart Safe Motherhood, a blood pressure monitoring program for moms after childbirth needed this feature because mom’s often experience high blood pressure for multiple pregnancies. This feature is not only for HSM though! Any intervention that enrolls through PennChart can use this feature as well. Please let your W2H liaison know if you would like to implement this for your program.

Progress towards upcoming major releases

  • The ability to deliver Way to Health interventions in Spanish is in the works. Release scheduled for mid February.

  • A customizable participant dashboard is underway. Release scheduled for early February.
