What is a 'Collect Data' event?

An event type that looks for participant data from a specified device source, like a Fitbit or Twilio SMS receiver. Once device data attaches and the event closes, logic runs based on a participant's completion or compliance, often linked to a target, on the event.

What are the different types of collect data events?

  1. Device data from a tangible device, like a Fitbit.  This is the most common type of device upload event.
  2. Device data from a receiver, like Twilio SMS.  This type of device is used to receive text message responses from participants
  3. Device data from a sleep device, which is much like scenario #1, except has a special event window due to the uniqueness of collecting sleep data

How do I set up a 'Collect Data' event?

(warning) Before you can create Collect Data events, you need to add your devices.

  1. Navigate to the 'Devices' section in the left sidebar.

  2. Once on the devices page, select 'Add device'.  Name the device and select the device source from the 'Class' drop down list.

  3. Depending on the device that you choose, Way to Health will display the device and data selection strategies.  Generally, you can choose the default options, however, it is a good idea to review them. Once you confirm that the device options look correct, click the blue 'Add' button.
