Setting Up a Specified Value Alert

(lightbulb) Want to know if a participant has a temperature over a certain clinically significant value? Set up an alert!

  1. Navigate to the 'Alerts' section under the Manage Study tab.

  2. Click the '+ New' alert generators button.

  3. Fill out the following fields:

      • Source: select the data source you would like to use. This will be either one of your project's device or surveys. For a temperature, this will most likely be a bi-directional SMS device.
        • Help: Don't see your device listed? First you need to set up your device. See Devices for instructions!

      • Class: select 'Value Compare Alert Generator'.  This will allow you set a threshold value for the temperature so that if the participant sends in a temperature over a certain value, the project team will be alerted.

      • Admin message: type alert message that will go to project staff any time that the temperature alert is triggered. This alert message will be sent out via the user's notification preference and will appear on the dashboard when the user logs in.

      • Params: select the params for the temperature alert and then click 'Save'.

        • (lightbulb)Tip! For bi-directional SMS responses involving numbers, set 'Value Field' to 'response_numeric

  1. (green star) Note: Now that you have built the alert on the study level, there is no need to build anything into an encounter aka your work is done!
